RUSSIAN CHURCH LAW OF IMPERIAL RUSSIA IN INVESTIGATIONS OF MODERN LAWYERS

Background. The analysis of investigations, devoted to the study of the role of the church law in the law system of imperial Russia, allows to reveal the tendencies which characterize historical-law science defining new perspectives of work in this direction.
Materials and methods. Using the historical-comparative method which allows to reveal general regularities of investigations of history of the church law, the author analyzed monographs and scientific articles. The historical method makes it possible to understand the historical reality which has influenced the evolution of views about the church law.
Results. In 1990–2000s scientists made an essential contribution into the development of one of the directions of historical-law science. The researcher comprehensively considered the views about the role of the church law in the law system of imperial Russia. Lawyers often use the method of comparative analysis. This allows to find something common and special in development of the church law of Russia and other countries.
